Confused nigh x100v adapter ring / filter for weather sealing...

1

When I remove the stock silver ring effectually the lens, I can fit a Zeiss 49mm protective filter directly onto the camera - withoutusing an adapter ring.

This begs the question - is the adapter ring actually necessary for weather condition sealing?

When the photographic camera focuses, the lens elements projection forrard and will touch the filter. The adapter provides the space within which the lens elements motion freely.

Yes I started poking around and found an old Ken Rockwell post about this.

I wouldn't have known! Good matter I never turned the camera on...

It's a shame that using the filter adapter causes the front end lens cap to become useless. Has anyone landed on any hacks that would allow its utilize?

Yeah, leave information technology in the box it came in. The lens cap otherwise finer blocks all light from reaching the sensor;-) Why add together an extra step to allow you to have a picture?

My X100V doesn't go to live in a proper camera bag then I similar to use the lens cap when possible.  My solution is to use a JJC LH-JX70 adapter and lens hood with the filter sandwiched in between.  Same bore as the stock lens and then you can go on using the cap when you put this on for conditions sealing.

Fuji lens cap = a thing waiting to be lost!

I have a X100F, not 5 but assume the ii are similar. I fitted the JJC adapter ring and purchased a generic, black plastic, pinch lens cap which I have drilled and attached with grayness, Teflon-coated fishing line to the photographic camera.

I was absolutely sure I'd lose the button-on Fuji lens cap so that is at present in the original cardboard camera box.

You can use the prior versions of X100F lens cap on the X100V with this hood:

Third political party lens cap for X1ooF because the X100V lens cap is too large when used with this hood.

Thanks anybody!

I observe the JJC adapter and hood are not color matched to the 100Vs silver body.

does anyone know if the official Fujifilm accompaniment is also mismatched?

The difference is admittedly slight, simply as a slice of industrial blueprint the 100V is beautiful, in my eyes, and I'd like to preserve that. I also dislike the JJC branding on the adapter.

The JJC kit is available in argent colour - at to the lowest degree for the silver X100F. That's what I bought.

Ok just a new question: Is the JJC adapter with a filter work as a weather resistance sealant?

The honest answer is that I don't know but hope so. I did put the faintest smear of Vaseline into all the threads in a bid a) to keep out h2o and b) to prevent aluminium-to-aluminium binding. I keep a filter in place all the time on all my lenses on all my cameras to protect the front end element (and yeah, I do know when to accept the filter off!).

Same here. I use the X70 hood and filter inbetween.  And I utilise the original X100V lens cap.

Personally , I bought the original lens hood.  I agreed with you lot, the design of X100V is and then cute, I don't desire to ruin it.

FYI, the original lens hood is fabricated in Japan.

I added the filter adapter and a UV filter and was surprised that the Fujifilm lens cap was besides large. I did not have this trouble with my X100F, so I realized the lens cap for the X100V is larger than the i for the X100F. Unfortunately I had already sold the X100F, so I ordered a lens cap for a X100F from Fujifilm's website, and it fits perfectly. I think it was $12 plus aircraft.

While the reversed filter doesn't allow for focus, NiSi has this actually cool custom filter that does protect the lens and gives plenty of room for focusing. The original lens cap fits right over it as well, and then y'all don't have to worry nearly finding a replacement. $40, but I've actually appreciated information technology and information technology worked well in a drizzle earlier this week.

You will demand ane of these (see the beneath picture).

Which will and so be able to fit a 49mm lens filter.

And best to and so buy a generic 49mm lens cap.
